Berkshire Wedding Fairs decided that the best way to celebrate their 11th business year anniversary was to give something back to those companies that had supported them during this time. On Thursday 21st April we organised our first ‘Wedding Suppliers Networking Event’ held at and sponsored by Cantley House Hotel in Wokingham. Business owners Jackie & Joanne wanted to do more than just say ‘thanks’ to the companies we had met over the years, but hoped to offer them something useful they could take back to implement in their own company which could give them the confidence to help grow their business or achieve something they’d been working on. We contacted Chris Lunn from local Wokingham based Digital Marketing and Web Design company – Digity. Both of us had input into the section Chris presented and after a hours open networking involving a fun game of ‘Getting to know you BINGO!’ with drinks and canapés, the 64 attendees took their seats. The session was hugely popular with the suppliers and lots were keen to share their own experiences with each other. Chris covered several topics such as web design, brand awareness, social media and chasing leads, many notes were taken and open discussions had as the attendees fully engaged in Chris’s slide and video show.
Great feedback was received both during and after the event with many suppliers asking when the next one would be! Natalie Mitchell from Always Chauffeur Wedding Cars said ‘Great evening ladies, well done, looking forward to the next one….’, Chris & Dominic from The Best Photo Booths tweeted ‘Currently @cantleyhotel for the @BerksWedFairs top networking evening with advice from marketing guru Chris Lunn @DigityUK #MakingMemories..’
Our final thought was ‘The event was intended to be for companies that had exhibited with us over the past 11 years, but in actual fact we had around 12 people attend that although had been on our mailing list had never attended a fair with us but for some reason this appealed to them…’
What was intended to be a one off celebration looks likely to turn into a regular event……Many thanks to you all !!
